In December, the Boston Business Journal (BBJ) announced its 2022 list of the 50 highest-growth middle-market companies in Massachusetts, and I’m honored to say that AspenTech was included among the leading companies.
The list includes both private and public companies across all sectors — life sciences, technology and professional services, and others. It’s based on Business Journal research on mid-market companies and a weighted ranking score that’s determined by revenue growth in the last three years. To see the full ranking, visit the BBJ website.
We were in great company, securing a spot on the list with other innovative brands that are also having a huge impact on the local economy and our lives. Other honorees included Moderna, who was also recognized as the Middle Market Innovator of the year, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Inc., HubSpot, Rapid 7 and many more.
Last week, I was proud to attend the BBJ award luncheon with several AspenTech colleagues at the Boston Park Plaza. The emcee shared a fun fact about each company as they were invited onstage to accept their award. The emcee called out our humble beginnings in 1981 as an MIT research project with a grant to study process industry innovation in response to the 1970s energy crisis.
It was a moment of reflection for me, as I thought about how far AspenTech has come since it was founded at MIT over 40 years ago. Since then, we’ve expanded into new industries such as chemicals, pharma, and metals and mining. Still, we’re very focused on today’s global energy challenges. The growth that was recognized with this BBJ award could not have been achieved without our dedicated employees and their commitment to helping our customers meet their business goals and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Congratulations, AspenTech! I’m excited for what’s to come.
